ah how soon it came...and how soon it has passed. today is the last show here in the states until we come back in october. we fly out late tuesday night. first stop...Auckland New Zealand! that is..if we and all our belongings make it though customs and the flight.
our entire world is packed up in 17 cardboard boxes. a whole 36' truck...usually packed front to back, top to bottom....all crammed into 17 small cardboard boxes. each of which is 24"x24"x12" and has to be less than 40lbs!
Andi's contraption to weigh everything
The vaults that will hopefully house a good recording...all packed away for the flight.
well...its day one...finally! andi flys in today...and we finally get to unload the truck into the shop today. most of the day will be spent shopping at walmart getting supplies for the show. more updated to come. i hopefully will have photos to update this post with soon.
the night of the tragic indian state fair stage collapse...musikfest felt that same storm. it unleashed nasty rain and flooding. as i said before...thankfully all our gear was quickly moved above the flood line at the last minute. heres a link to some of the shocking photos of the flood. i was out on the road to california but received word monday of the damage and that everything had made it through ok.

this is our stage...sunday morning
these blue barrels were once filled with trash and water
tonight im somewhere in Indiana. picking up the bass and sax tomorrow...then somewhere west of Kansas City by nightfall.
an update on MusikFest...the tent i worked at was flooded saturday night. thankfully dave and the crew were able to get everything up onto the stage. if not, would have lost all of FOH, monitor world and the backline. thankfully nothing was damaged. the water came up about a foot shy of the cases.
Just arrived home from a wonderful week at MusikFest in Bethlehem PA. what a week it was! i hope i get to post all the pics and the videos i was able to take.
it was nice to get back to the kamikaze audio i love so much. with 30 minutes between acts, it was throw and go for audio. never had heard of most of these bands. but i had alot of fun. i enjoyed about 3/4 of them. the dance companies didnt really do anything for me. and the "dirty grandma" was ok..but got boring after about 20 minutes.
it was awesome to step up to the Venue (my sound board of choice) and just have to do it all on the fly. some of my favorite bands i did sound for where:
Red Elvises
Diego's Umbrella
Los Straitjackets
Red Baraat
BarleyJuice
..and then there was Gaelic Storm. Thats a story i can only tell in person...sorry. but ill say this....i wish their engineer all the luck in the world and i hope he has many great shows ahead of him.
so on with the memories!
The freak rainstorm that hit...several times.
Monitor World - and the M7 from hell!
Some of the beautiful architecture around the stages
Igor & The Red Elvises
Igor & The Red Elvises
Igor & The Red Elvises
Igor & The Red Elvises
Igor & The Red Elvises - I AM a closet disco dancer!
Igor & The Red Elvises - Rocketman
Igor & The Red Elvises - I want to see you belly dance
well...since my finacee Maddie is out of the country for the next 8 months...and keeping in-touch via blog...i figured i would do one as well. though she has been doing hers alot longer.
im hoping to keep everyone up to date on my travels via this blog. first off is MusikFest in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. its a huge multi-day festival with tons of bands on tons of stages. I will be doing sound on the Penn Lotto stage. its mainly going to be Celtic/Rock/World/Surfer music. oh and a few dance troops in there somewhere. the great part is...Red Elvises, Gaelic Storm and Diego's Umbrella will all be on the stage!
I pull out first thing in the morning. then its a day of driving. load in and we hit the ground running. once i get back from Musikfest (im bailing a few days early) i have 48 hours before i have to be back on the road with the big truck headed to virginia to get gear and then off to Folsom California to tech the show. after tech and 3 shows in Folsom, its off to LAX to jump a plane to New Zealand for my first ever world tour with In The Mood! thats when this blog will get alot of updates!
until then...ill try to keep everyone who will be reading this as up to date as possible whenever i can.
